Martha Mechow

Martha Mechow was born in Berlin in 1996. At the age of 16, she founded the theater directing collective Bäckerei Harmony together with Leonie Jenning, with whom she has been working continuously and in various formats at the Volksbühne since the 2021/2022 season. Before that, Martha Mechow studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg from 2017 to 2022, where she will begin her Master's degree in October 2024. Her bachelor's film won the prize for best thesis and premiered at FID Marseille in 2023. 'Die ängstliche Verkehrsteilnehmerin' won the Grand Feature Film Award at the Diagonale and the Erste Bank Film Award at the Viennale.  
In summer 2024 she is Filmmaker in Residence at NYU's Deutsches Haus and is working on her second feature film
